PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP OF STUDENTS IN BEROUN
The internship of car-mechanics, carpenters and plumbers is over, students returned home with new practical experience, knowledge and experiences with many unforgettable memories.
On the 21st September 2012 there began a three-week internship of students, during which the conducted training workshops in school and craftrooms were held. The host school - Secondary Vocational School and Apprentice School in Beroun – Hlinky, came to an existence by an interaction of three vocational schools and gained its important position in the region. The school is being perceived as the school with a good perspective for the graduates in labour market. Today it has 861 students in the study fields that are focused on technics, commerce and on the service. The school is well equipped, in addition to the regular classrooms, there are three special IT classrooms, a practiacal training classroom, a multimedia classroom, a professional counselling classroom, a measuring laboratory, an automotive technology training classroom, a classroom for language teaching, a training business company and other specialized classrooms for vocational subjects. The area of school building also covers a fitness center with a gym and sauna. The campus includes a playground as well. The school has its school dining room, a dortmitory and the craftrooms that are the school´s pride. The craftrooms are spacious and the equipment is above the standard.
Students in field of car-mechanic were training in garages. They did an undercart sercive, brakes treatment, guarantee inspections and regular maintenance according to the protocol. Students carried out repairs after the diagnostics, ABS fault repairs, disassembling and assembling tires, tire balancing, as well as other professional activities. The enrichment of their work was a field trip in the company Saint-Gobain Sekurit CR Ltd., where they got familiar with the production of laminated safety car windshields.
Students in the field of carpenter carried out hand and machine wood working till its finishing. The students used in the tools, machinery and worshop equipment. A major benefit to the students was a field trip in a furniture producing company Lenea Trubin, where they saw the use of modern machinery and materials.
The plumbers were practicing their Professional skills in preparing the water distribution according to the plans, including pressure testing, the system installation, sewate system, connecting copper pipes, and in installing central heating distribution. All students were interested in a revision of gas boilers. During a field trip in the sewage tank plant they got familiar with the technical procedures of the water treatment. After the training in RAVAK company – a manufacturer of bathrooms and bathroom equipment. All participants received a certificate of training attendance.
The work is not the only thing a man lives for, so the students enjoyed playing sports, exploring Beroun, its cultural and historical monuments as well as having some trips in Beroun surroundings. There was a possibility to play football, floorball, table tenis, and to use a school gym or to have fun in a nearby aquacity. Students visited attractions such as Karlstejn, Křivoklát. Eventhough we had a weekend to enjoy Prague, we lacked a few days more for our tour to be accomplished.
After returning to our home school, everyone who was involved, was officially awareded by the Europass-Mobility document showing the knowledge and skills acquired in another European country.
The aim was to attract students by teaching in the new environment, to get a broader view in the field of their study, to compare the methods of teaching and craftrooms equipment, to increase interest in the specific professions and to help students succeed in the labour market. We believe that this was not the last project in the newcoming years and there will be a possibility for another students to attend a similar internship in the Czech Republic or in another country.
